Green Eyes - Coldplay (cover version - Covideo Sessions No. 15)

Branching out now into some of my favourite secular tunes (at least those I'm capable of performing more or less correctly!!), here's Green Eyes by Coldplay from their album A Rush Of Blood To The Head.

Deeper - Delirious (cover version - Covideo Sessions No. 14)

Image
A cover of Deeper by British Christian band Delirious.   Lyrics: I want to go deeper But I don't know how to swim I want to be meeker But have you seen this old earth? I want to fly higher But these arms won't take me there I want to be, I want to be Maybe I could run Maybe I could fly, to you Do you feel the same When all you see is Blame in me? And the wonder of it all is that I'm living just to fall More in love with you [x2] I want to go deeper But is it just a stupid whim? I want to be weaker Be a help to the strong I want to run faster But this old leg won't carry me I want to be, I want to be Maybe I could run Maybe I could fly, to you Do you feel the same When all you see is Blame in me? And the wonder of it all is that I'm living just to fall More in love with you [x2] Maybe I could run Maybe I could follow It's time to walk the path Where many seem to fall Hold me in your arms Just like any father would How long do we have to wait? How long, we're

Lord Of All Hopefulness - Trad. Irish melody/Jan Struther (Covideo Sessions No.9)

Image
A favourite hymn from my childhood that I put up on YouTube the day of my sister Helen's 60th birthday and also for my sister Mona working in the Chaplaincy team at a hospital in New Orleans in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis. Lyrics: 1. Lord of all hopefulness, Lord of all joy, Whose trust, ever child-like, no cares can destroy, Be there at our waking, and give us, we pray, Your bliss in our hearts, Lord, at the break of the day. 2. Lord of all eagerness, Lord of all faith, Whose strong hands were skilled at the plane and the lathe, Be there at our labors, and give us, we pray, Your strength in our hearts, Lord, at the noon of the day. 3. Lord of all kindliness, Lord of all grace, Your hands swift to welcome, your arms to embrace, Be there at our homing, and give us, we pray, Your love in our hearts, Lord, at the eve of the day. 4. Lord of all gentleness, Lord of all calm, Whose voice is contentment, whose presence is balm, Be there at our sleeping, and give us, we pra

Good To Me - Audrey Assad (cover version - Covideo Sessions No. 8)

Image
A cover of Audrey Assad's worship song "Good To Me"... with more birdsong at the end. Apologies if I look a little distracted towards the start... our regular visitor the crow was walking towards me cocking his head! I'll have to try and do a video with him in the background at some point. Lyrics: I put all my hope On the truth of Your promise And I steady my heart On the ground of Your goodness When I'm bowed down with sorrow I will lift up Your name And the foxes in the vineyard Will not steal my joy Because You are good to me, good to me You are good to me, good to me You are good to me And I lift my eyes To the hills where my help is found Your voice fills the night Raise my head up and hear the sound Though fires burn all around me I will praise You, my God And the foxes in the vineyard Will not steal my joy Because You are good to me, good to me You are good to me, good to me You are good to me Your goodness and mercy shall follow me All my life I'

Jeremy Capella - “Spirit (Keep On)”

Image
Jeremy Casella is a hidden gem among Christian singer-songwriters. Each album of his is something special. This was the 1st single off his latest album. I hear Jesus saying its lyrics to me this week as we approach the Triduum. https://twitter.com/bro_james/status/1247510690862174214?s=12

Easter Joy: Did You Feel The Mountains Tremble - Delirious (cover version - Covideo Sessions No. 12)

Image
Easter blessings to you all from here in Liverpool!! A worship song for Easter Day from the great English band Delirious, one of the trailblazers of the contemporary Christian music revolution of the ‘90s-‘00s. Lyrics: Did you feel the mountains tremble? Did you hear the oceans roar? When the people rose to sing of Jesus Christ, the risen one Did you feel the people tremble? Did you hear the singers roar? When the lost began to sing of Jesus Christ, the saving one And we can see that God you're moving A mighty river through the nations And young and old will turn to Jesus Fling wide you heavenly gates Prepare the way of the risen one Open up the doors and let the music play Let the streets resound with singin' Songs that bring Your hope and Songs that bring Your joy Dancers who dance upon injustice Did you feel the darkness tremble When all the saints join in one song? And all the streams flow as one river To wash away our brokenness And here we see that God, you're moving

Everything Or Nothing - Carrollton (cover version - Covideo Sessions No.11)

Image
A recent discovery, a worship song by American Christian band Carrollton. It's everything or nothing at all, It's an open heart or a stone wall, It's all in, or it's all out Love is everything. I don't wanna reach the end of the day And wonder how time slipped away Oh, I'm learning what it means to say, "Love is everything." I will give you my all,   There's no hiding in the middle ground Either fly or we fall, y You have my attention Oh, I hear you now I surrender I surrender 'Cause it's everything or nothing at all I surrender I surrender 'Cause it's everything or nothing at all It's easier to stay in the lines And play it safe, you know we'd all be fine But I hear you whisper one more time, "Love is everything." I will give you my all, There's no hiding in the middle ground Either fly or we fall, You have my attention, Oh, I hear you now I surrender I surrender 'Cause it's everything or nothing at al

Fragrance Prayer - Tom Booth (cover version) - Covideo Sessions No. 7

Image
Correction: Yes, it is a sweatshirt, not a t-shirt!! :-) This worship song was written by the American Catholic worship leader, Tom Booth, based on a prayer by Cardinal Saint John Henry Newman which was popularised by Mother Teresa (St. Teresa of Calcutta). Booth used to be music director for the Life Teen youth movement which began in the US and is now in 31 countries. Our LifeTeen group in Liverpool, which Fr. Justin Price osb began in St. Austin's Parish, Liverpool back in 1999, was one of the first outside the US. Lyrics: Dear Jesus, Help me to spread your fragrance everywhere that I go. Dear Jesus, Flood my soul with your spirit and your love. Penetrate and possess my being So utterly that all my life may Only be a radiance of you. Dear Jesus, Help me to spread your fragrance everywhere that I go. Help me to spread your fragrance everywhere that I go. Dear Jesus, Flood my soul with your spirit and your love. Shine through me and be so in me That every soul I come in con

Holiness - Scott Underwood (cover version), Covideo Sessions No. 6

Another favourite from my time in the 2000s working as a Music Minister at St. Austin's Parish, Liverpool, with a LifeTeen youth group and leading the music with a group of young musicians at the Sunday evening Mass. Lyrics: Holiness, holiness Is what I long for Holiness is what I need Holiness, holiness Is what You want from me So take my heart and form it Take my mind and transform it Take my will and conform it To Yours, to Yours, oh Lord Faithfulness, faithfulness Is what I long for Faithfulness is what I need Faithfulness, faithfulness Is what You want from me So take my heart and form it Take my mind and transform it Take my will and conform it To Yours, to Yours, oh Lord Brokenness, brokenness Is what I long for Brokenness is what I need Brokenness, brokenness Is what You want from me So take my heart and form it Take my mind and transform it Take my will and conform it To Yours, to Yours, oh Lord

Palm Sunday: The King Is Coming - Newsboys (cover version - Covideo Sessions No. 10)

Image
A worship song for Palm Sunday, a call to us all to open our hearts to Jesus, to "make a way" for him into our lives. Let us do this now and follow him through the events of Holy Week.  Lyrics:  Make a way for  Make a way for  Make a way for the King  The King is coming  Empty hearts are filling up  Wicked ways are coming undone  Every eye is looking out for  You City lights are burning out  Freedom's song is ringing loud  Dead men waking up to the sound of You  And all our hearts can sing  All our hearts can sing is  Make a way for  Make a way for  Make a way for the King  The King is coming  Make a way for  Make a way for  Make a way for the King  The King is coming  The King is coming  Split the sky with your glory  Bring to life an awakening  Burn away everything that's not for You  Hear our voices crying out  We wont stop til heaven's come down  We wont stop til every knee bows to You  And all our hearts will sing  Make a way for  Make a way for  Make

Your Love Is Strong - Jon Foreman (Switchfoot) - cover version, Covideo Sessions No.5

Image
Recorded in honour of our De La Mennais Brothers in Spain, suffering the loss of 6 Brothers in the space of 10 days from their community in Bilbao. May God bless them and keep them. Canto esto para nuestros hermanos mennaisianos españoles. Lyrics: Heavenly Father, You always amaze me Let Your kingdom come in my world And in my life Give me the food I need To live through today And forgive me as I forgive The people that wrong me Lead me far from temptation Deliver me from the evil one I look out the window The birds are composing Not a note is out of tune Or out of place I walk to the meadow And stare at the flowers Better dressed than any girl On her wedding day So why should I worry? Why do I freak out? God knows what I need You know what I need Your love is, Your love is Your love is strong Your love is, Your love is Your love is strong Your love is, Your love is Your love is strong The Kingdom of the Heavens Is now advancing Invade my heart Invade this broken town The Kingd

Open The Eyes Of My Heart - Paul Baloche (Cover version - Covideo Sessions No. 4)

Image
Paul Baloche's worship classic, one of the first modern praise and worship songs that I incorporated into youth ministry parish worship in the early 2000's. Still a personal favourite. Lyrics: Open the eyes of my heart, Lord Open the eyes of my heart I want to see You I want to see You Open the eyes of my heart, Lord Open the eyes of my heart I want to see You I want to see You To see You high and lifted up Shinin' in the light of Your glory Pour out Your power and love As we sing holy, holy, holy Holy, holy, holy Holy, holy, holy Holy, holy, holy I want to see you
