Poor old Christian Bale...
An actor whose committed performances (seemingly influenced by Method-acting techniques) have brought him a cult following in the acting world, seems to be having a very bad time of late (see below). The rant that is mentioned below has so many expletives in it that i feel I can't put a link to it here... lets just say that he completely lost it and it wasn't just for a few seconds either.

By now, you have all heard the audio recording of Christian Bale tearing a strip off the director of photography, Shane Hurlbut on the set of Terminator: Salvation. American Psycho, indeed.
You can listen to the orginal rant here although please be warned there are 36 f-bombs and other explicit language.
Bale is getting quite the reputation as a hothead. This on-set blow-up occurred just days after he was charged with allegedly assaulting his mom and sister in a hotel room (charges were later dropped). Maybe it was just a bad week?
His colleagues have rushed to his defense, citing the Method Acting that brought him to such a raw state. Others have said that it was a brutal cocktail of Dark Knight promotion junket mixed with a grueling Terminator shooting schedule, and, finally, family strife that prompted him to lash out like a douchebag.
Whether you sympathize with the man or not, there is no denying that his rant has become an instant internet phenomenon.
Within 24 hours, there were remixes of the rant, as both a hard-core version and a surprisingly infectious dance club version: Around these parts, I have heard at least two people singing the dancey version: “He is professional, but then he lost control.”
Today I was sent the Christian Bale soundboard, where you can select your favourite clips for your mixing pleasure.
Coined by Zap2it as “the rant heard around the world”, the rant has been aired and discussed everywhere from TMZ to The Today Show. What do you think? Will this harm Bale’s Career? Does he sound unstable? Will Shane Hurlbut ever work with Bale again?

I agree it is obviously true in some cases that media celebs can court controversy. I don't think that would be the case for Bale having recently been accused of assault by his mum + sister and from what I know of him. But I agree about the Method + character leaking into real life. I think this was never more tragically true than for Heath Ledger after his role with Bale in "The Dark Knight".
